The geographical coordinates of the Xiaping Landfill is east longitude 113°34′ and north latitude 22°29′. It is in a northwest to southeast valley, 2 km west to the Buji town, 2 km north to the Shenzhen Institute of Physical Education and 1 km northeast to the Yinhu Tourist Centre. It can be reached by car through Baojie Road which is constructed specially for garbage transportation and is connected to the Honggang road and Shenping highway directly.
Technology
The Shenzhen Xiaping Landfill Gas Collection and Utilization Project includes three systems: LFG collection system, LFG power plant and LFG flaring system.
LFG Collection System:
Vertical wells will be built to collect LFG. Comparing to horizontal channel collection method, vertical well collection method is widely used in landfills for its characteristics in simple structure, high efficiency, low investment and better seal performance. Multi-hole pipes are installed perpendicularly in the vertical well filled with size-grade distribution of gravel stones to increase the adsorption area. Distance between vertical wells is about 30~50 m. Vertical wells are fitted with collection pipe, valve and sampling pipe. LFG in vertical wells is extracted by Root's blower through the main collecting pipes.
LFG power plant:
The imported GE-Jenbacher power generators will be deployed in the LFG power plant. The electricity generated by the Proposed Project will be delivered into the South China Power Grid.
LFG flaring system:
An enclosed LFG flaring system is directly connected to the LFG collection system. It is used to combust the surplus collected LFG. LFG flaring system consists of tower and flare equipment with continuous igniter. Flaring capacity of each combustion heads of the LFG flaring system is 30-2640 Nm3/h. Its combustion efficiency is expected higher than 99% and will be determined yearly.
