Description
The Hei'er project is a 25 MW run-of-river hydro power plant located in the city of Qujing in Shizong County, Yunnan Province. Electricity generated by the project is transmitted to the South China Power Grid and displaces part of the electricity produced by fossil fuel-fired power plants, and thus reduces greenhouse gas emissions. The hydro power station also helps to alleviate power shortages, promote economic development and improve the standard of living, ecosystem and environment in the local area.
Technology
The run-of-river hydro technology converts the potential energy available in the water flow into electrical energy using hydro turbines and alternators. Many similar projects have been implemented in recent years, resulting in the continual refinement and improvement of this specific type of technology.
